Brattleboro

– The Vermont State Police in Brattleboro, in conjunction with local and county agencies, conducted a sobriety checkpoint on Dec. 20.

State police said of the 419 vehicles that passed through the checkpoint, 15 drivers were found to have consumed alcohol, one driver was arrested for driving under the influence and a minor was arrested for illegal possession of alcohol.

– Taijuan Minor, 18, of Corona, N.Y., was cited by Brattleboro Police on Dec. 12 for aggravated assault and unlawful mischief following an incident at the Austine School.

Police said Minor had swung a metal hammer at staff members and caused damage to the school with the same hammer. Minor was cited to appear in Windham District Court on Jan. 19 to answer to the charges.

– Tanisha Y. Harris, 30, of Springfield, Mass., was arrested by Brattleboro Police on Dec. 14 for providing false information to a police officer following a parking dispute on Clark Street. Harris was cited to appear in Windham District Court at a later date to answer to the charge.

– Suzanne L. May, 30, of Vernon, was arrested by Vermont State Police on Dec. 16 for driving under the influence, second offense, following a traffic stop on Western Avenue. She was cited to appear in Windham District Court on Jan. 5 to answer to the charge.

– Kirstin A. Waterman, 19, of Brattleboro, was taken into custody on Putney Road by Brattleboro Police on Dec. 19 on an active arrest warrant. She was lodged at the police department in lieu of $858 in bail.
Dover

– Edward M. Morley, 28, of Danvers, Mass., was arrested on Dec. 19 by the Windham County Sheriff’s Department for driving under the influence following a traffic stop on Handle Road. He was cited to appear in Windham District Court on Jan. 5 to answer to the charge.

Dummerston

– Kaila H. Tiedemann, 18, of New Hartford, Conn., was arrested for careless and negligent operation of a motor vehicle by Vermont State Police on Dec. 18.

State police said a 2006 Volvo station wagon driven by Tiedemann southbound on Interstate 91 was clocked at 100 mph. She was cited to appear in Windham District Court on Jan. 26 to answer to the charge.

– Monika Johnson, 41, of Brattleboro, was unhurt after her 1999 GMC Jimmy skidded off Rice Farm Road and struck a tree on Dec. 10.

Vermont State Police cited Johnson for failure to maintain control of her vehicle. The truck suffered moderate damage, state police said.

Jamaica

– No injuries were reported following a two-car crash on Route 30 Dec. 20.

According to Vermont State Police, a 2009 Honda CRV driven by Michael Marantz, 67, of Jamaica, struck a 2007 Toyota RAV4 driven by Kathleen Defranzo of South Windsor, Conn., as she was leaving D&K’s Grocery Store.

State police said neither driver was hurt and both cars sustained minor bumper damage, but were able to be driven from the scene.

Putney

– Bryan Wainwright, 20, of Putney was cited on Dec. 18 by the Windham County Sheriff’s Department for driving with a criminally suspended license. He will answer to the charge in Windham District Court at a later date.

Rockingham

– Five people were taken to Springfield Hospital with minor injuries after a two-car crash on Missing Link Road Dec. 13.

According to Vermont State Police, a 2000 Subaru Legacy driven by Amanda Barbour, 27, of Springfield, collided head-on with a 1996 Ford Taurus driven by Julie Flack, 23, of Bellows Falls.

State police said that five of the six people in the two cars were taken to the hospital for various neck and back injuries. Names of the injured were not provided by state police.

Snow contributed to the crash, state police said, and it remains under investigation.

Vernon

– Justin A. Smith, no age provided, of West Brattleboro, was cited by the Windham County Sheriff’s Department on Dec. 11 for driving with a suspended license after Smith was stopped for speeding. Smith was cited to appear in Windham District Court at a later date to answer to the charge.

Wardsboro

– Benjamin Werner, 32, of West Dover, escaped injury after his 2001 Jeep Wrangler skidded off Newell Hill Road on Dec. 11.

Vermont State Police said Werner lost control of his vehicle on the snow- and ice-covered road, skidded off the roadway and down an embankment and overturned in a shallow creek.

State police said Werner, who was wearing a seat belt, was unharmed, but his Jeep suffered damage to its hood, roof and undercarriage.

West Townshend

– Kayla A. Munson, no age given, of West Townshend, was arrested on Dec. 18 by the Windham County Sheriff’s Department for driving under the influence, following a traffic stop. She was cited to appear in Windham District Court at a later date to answer to the charge.
